I was born in Oregon, but raised in Arizona. I've been painting since the age of 5, and was inspired to take up art as a profession by my father. The first art school that I attended was the Kachina Art School in Phoenix at the age of 6. During my teenage years, I spent the summers learning realism from a Dutch still life painter who owned a school in downtown Phoenix. Later...went on to Phoenix College and studied for approximately 2 1/2 years with Art Professor Merrill Mahaffey, who taught life drawing. He is an amazing landscape painter. He continues to be a great influence on my work. After 4 years at PC, I went on to ASU for another 4 years, receiving a BA degree in Studio Art. Throughout my life, I've continued to paint and draw subject matter that inspires me; which is varied - landscape, figurative, still life, etc. I am always interested in portraying the human condition in my artwork.
